The hearing industry has predators. We name them.

Sound Judgment is written by Scott West, 40 years into hearing loss, for people who live with it too. We evaluate hearing aids, amplifiers, TV listeners, captioning tools and alerting devices. We expose the products and sellers that prey on us, and we point you to the few that actually work.

We expose

Fake sales, fake reviews, “hearing aids” that are $30 amplifiers with a new label, and refund policies that vanish when you need them. The tricks are the same every time. Learn them once.

We evaluate

FDA listings, return policies, price history and thousands of reviews, run through a data scientist’s filter so you get the short answer. Hands-on when it matters. Our method is public.

We recommend

A short list of products we would tell a friend to buy, by budget and by type of hearing loss. If it fails, it says so, whether or not it pays us.
